This site is maintained by Rachel & Anna, friends for 40 years and both with sons the same age with Asperger's Syndrome. Our aim with asteens is to inform and join up with others who have teenagers on the autistic spectrum. Our boys are now approaching the end of their teens and the future now looks much rosier for them both, however, having experienced some dreadful times when they were younger and finding a general lack of appropriate support we wanted to help. When our children were young and we sometimes felt at a loss, we turned to books for comfort but found them all rather too upbeat which although intended to comfort and encourage just made us feel more alone and guilty. We decided that our struggles to get the right environments and support for our children were unacceptable in a modern society so we decided to write a book which was truthful and unsanitised. We have documented our personal battles, stories and tragedies and they have now been published in a new book Children and Teenagers with Aspergers: The Journey of Parenting from Birth to Teens.
